SOMETHING CHANGED
Something Changed at Work. Let’s Understand What.
Some work injuries happen all at once: a fall from a ladder, a box that was heavier than it looked, a slip on a wet floor. Others build over months of lifting, reaching or hours in the same position, until one ordinary shift tips it over.
Whether it happened in a moment or over time, understanding how your work affects your symptoms is where we start.
Pain tells us something. It doesn’t tell us everything. An exam shows what may be injured, how it affects the way you move and what makes sense next.
Common work-related concerns we evaluate
- Back pain after lifting, carrying or twisting
- Neck and shoulder symptoms tied to physical or repetitive work
- Slip, trip and fall injuries, including knees, hips and wrists
- Wrist, elbow and forearm pain from repetitive tasks
- Headache or jaw symptoms after a workplace incident
- Injuries from a crash while driving for work; coverage depends on the claim, and we’ll help you sort out which applies
Go to an emergency room or call 911 first if you have numbness, weakness, a severe or worsening headache, confusion, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
Not sure what’s going on? That’s exactly what the first visit is for.
MINNESOTA WORKERS’ COMP
Workers’ Comp Shouldn’t Be One More Thing You Figure Out Alone.
Minnesota workers’ compensation may cover reasonable and necessary care for an accepted work injury. We’ll help you understand what claim information is needed, review what you have and explain the billing process before care begins.
01
Report the Injury
Tell your employer as soon as you can, even if it seems minor, and ask how to report it to their workers’ comp insurer. Early reporting means fewer questions later.
02
Check Your Provider Options
Many Minnesota workers can choose their own treating provider, including a chiropractor. Certified managed-care plans and some collective bargaining agreements have their own provider rules. Not sure? Call us with your employer’s name and we’ll help you find out.
03
Share Your Claim Information
Bring your employer’s name, the insurance carrier, your claim number and your adjuster’s contact information if you have them. We verify your coverage and bill the workers’ comp carrier directly for accepted claims.
Coverage and visit frequency depend on the accepted claim, medical necessity and Minnesota’s treatment parameters, which generally allow 12 weeks of chiropractic care with extensions when the findings support them. We plan your care with that in mind from the first visit. This is general information, not legal advice.

THE E&G DIFFERENCE
You’re More Than a Claim Number.
At Excelsior & Grand, you work directly with Dr. Heather. She looks at more than the injured area: what your work requires, what your exam reveals and what needs to change for you to move forward.
No predetermined treatment routine. No unnecessary appointments. Thoughtful clinical decisions, clear explanations and a plan that changes as you progress.
The Record Matters
After a work injury, your care and your claim are connected. Clear, accurate records protect both. We document what we find carefully, from the first visit to the last.
- Baseline findings. Range of motion, orthopedic and neurological testing, and functional questionnaires at your first exam.
- Treatment tied to findings. Each visit connects to what we found and why.
- Scheduled re-exams. Progress is measured, not guessed, and the plan changes when you do.
- Imaging and referrals when warranted. A trusted network for imaging, orthopedics, physical therapy and other specialists.
- Records within 48 business hours. Records requests and reports are completed within 48 business hours of payment.
Accurate, not inflated. Your records should say exactly what we find.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A Clear Process, From First Exam to Next Steps
Every plan starts with understanding. The tool comes after the finding.
01
Understand
We talk through how the injury happened, what your job requires, what has changed and what you need your body to do.
02
Examine and Explain
Dr. Heather evaluates how you move and tests the joints, muscles and nerves involved, then walks you through your findings and plan at your follow-up visit.
03
Care Chosen for a Reason
Depending on your findings and coverage, care may include adjustments, hands-on soft-tissue work, rehab exercise or a referral. Not everyone needs everything.
04
Reassess and Move Forward
We measure progress, adapt the plan and tell you when a different approach, a referral or discharge makes sense.
Tools we use when the findings support them: chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Techniques®, Graston®, Class 4 laser, rehab exercise and massage. Workers’ comp coverage for individual services depends on your claim.
The plan should change when you do.

QUESTIONS
Work Injury Questions
Still unsure about something? Call (952) 920-9247. We’re happy to help you figure out where to start.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can schedule directly. Whether care is paid under workers’ comp depends on your employer’s plan, an accepted claim and any provider rules that apply.
Can I choose my own chiropractor?
In most cases, yes. Minnesota generally lets employees choose their provider, with exceptions for certified managed-care plans and some collective bargaining agreements. Call us with your employer’s name and we’ll help you check.
Will I have a copay or deductible?
Not for care accepted under your workers’ comp claim; those plans don’t use ordinary health-insurance copays or deductibles. If a claim or treatment is disputed or denied, billing can differ, and we’ll talk it through before anything comes to you.
How soon after a work injury should I be seen?
As soon as you’re able. An early exam gives a clear baseline for your care and your claim. If you have emergency symptoms, go to the ER first.
What should I bring?
Your employer’s name, the workers’ comp carrier, your claim number and adjuster contact if you have them, a photo ID, and any ER, urgent care or imaging records.
Can I keep working?
That depends on your injury and your job. We assess what you can do safely and talk through activity and care recommendations.
How long does care take?
It depends on the injury, your findings, how you respond and Minnesota’s treatment parameters. We set goals when we review your findings, reassess along the way and tell you when continued care, a change in approach or a referral makes sense.
I was hurt while driving for work. Which insurance applies?
Work-related crashes can involve both workers’ comp and auto no-fault coverage, and workers’ comp is usually primary. Bring both claim numbers if you have them and we’ll help you sort it out. Auto accident care →
Do I need an attorney?
Not everyone does. If your claim is disputed or you have questions about your rights, a Minnesota workers’ compensation attorney or the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry can help.
