FROM ONE VETERAN TO ANOTHER
Chiropractic Care for Veterans, from a Fellow Veteran
You volunteered your body, and your life, for this country and the people in it. Taking care of you now is something I’m genuinely honored to do.
I served in the Army National Guard, and I know what it means to show up for the people beside you and do things the right way. That’s how I approach VA Community Care: the right paperwork, straight answers about what your referral covers, and care chosen for what we actually find.
Whether it’s your back, your neck or a joint that’s carried a lot of miles, we’ll start by understanding what your body needs to do. And if something else is the better answer, I’ll tell you, even if that means care isn’t here.
You don’t have to navigate your health alone. I’m honored to be part of your team.
Dr. HeatherDC, MS, CCSP®

HOW REFERRALS WORK
How to Use Your VA Community Care Referral at Excelsior & Grand
Four steps from your VA provider to our table. The referral comes first.
01
Talk to Your VA Provider
Ask your VA provider for a chiropractic referral through VA Community Care. You can ask for Excelsior & Grand by name, and some VA providers recommend us to Veterans who live nearby.
02
Your Referral Is Approved
Once it’s approved, your VA provider sends the referral to us, usually by fax. The referral has to be requested and approved through the VA before your first visit.
03
Schedule Your Visit
Book a new patient appointment online or call us. Your first visit is your history and exam, and your findings and plan are reviewed at your follow-up visit.
04
Care, Billed to Optum
We bill Optum, the VA’s Community Care Network administrator, for your authorized visits. If you need more visits, you’ll request them through your VA provider.
BEFORE YOUR FIRST VISIT
What to Know About Your VA Referral

- Need more visits? Go back to your VA provider to request them. We’ll let you know when you’re getting close.
- We bill Optum directly. Optum is the VA Community Care Network administrator for our area.
For questions about your eligibility or what your VA Community Care benefits cover, check with your VA provider.
THE E&G STANDARD
Care That Respects Your Service
Your care here follows the same standard as every patient’s: understand first, choose the treatment after the finding, explain the reason and adjust as you progress.
For Veterans, that also means clear documentation for your VA provider and honest conversations about what your referral covers, so nothing about your care is a surprise.
You gave your body to your country. It deserves careful, thoughtful care.
- The right paperwork. Clear records and communication with your VA provider.
- Straight answers. What your referral covers and what happens next.
- The right treatment. Chiropractic care chosen for what we find, not a preset protocol.
- The right referral. If someone else is the better answer, we’ll tell you.
