Acupuncture is a form of holistic medicine designed to balance the flow of one’s “chi,” or life-force. Developed in ancient China, the practice of acupuncture involves inserting ultra-fine metal needles into the skin along the body’s energy pathways, or meridians, that run from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Anywhere between five to twenty of these ultra-fine needles are used during a session. Once inserted, the needles are left in place for around ten to twenty minutes to promote the body’s natural painkillers and stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. This treatment can help with migraines, back pain, sports injuries such as tennis elbow, and many other ailments.
Our St. Louis Park acupuncturist seeks to eliminate the root cause of your problem by uncovering dysfunction in your body’s energetic meridian system. Acupuncture is a safe and painless and can sometimes operate as an alternative to prescription medicine and surgery.
